Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief

Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief is a group of Play/Child Therapists that unites the Playborhood to support those impacted by Natural Disasters and large community tragedies by providing supplies and resources to local play/child therapists in the impacted community.
We strive to unite with colleagues across the U.S. to bring much-needed support to our home state, Washington, during this challenging time of forest fires. You can join us by spreading the word or making a donation to support our efforts.
Your support makes a meaningful difference. 🌟
In collaboration with YEN:
Youth Empowerment Network, Olympia Therapy PLLC, & WAAPT, and with the support of colleagues throughout the country
We will help deliver play therapy kits, creative expressive art supplies, sensory items, comfort objects, books, and resources to help youth and families process trauma, reconnect with playfulness, and begin to heal — by providing tools to feel safe, seen, and supported.
From our past projects supporting those impacted by wildfires and hurricane-related floods, we’ve seen how healing begins when communities come together and when communities are met with compassion, creativity, and care.
Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project, inspired by the love, thoughtfulness, and hope brought to communities impacted by the Maui Fires in 2023, Hurricane Helene, Western North Carolina, Southern California, Texas, WA floods, and now Washington State Fires in Spokane.
Our mission is to deliver relief, healing, and hope to children, families, therapeutic centers, schools, and colleagues affected by these devastating events. Together, we can continue to brighten the world by offering support in daily life, especially in times of trauma and crisis.
Let’s come together to make a difference. 🌟
This will be our 7th project since 2023, and we need the help of our community to bring sensory, play, art, and comfort kits to the youth and families of Spokane.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the devastating Spokane wildfire and all wildfires happening throughout the US. In Spokane alone, more than 600 homes have been destroyed so far and 5,000+ people evacuated; countless children and families are facing uncertainty, grief, and trauma.
The Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project, a collaborative initiative between Olympia Therapy and the Youth Empowerment Network (YEN), a 501 (c) (3) organization, is responding to an urgent request from local play therapists and our community partners in Spokane.
Our team of trauma-informed mental health professionals is assembling Play, Sensory, Art, and Comfort Kits filled with supplies including, but not limited to, art, sensory tools, children’s books, comfort items, and caregiver resources. These kits are designed to help youth begin healing during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
Unlike organizations that provide food, clothing, and shelter, the Play, Heal, Grow: Disaster Relief Project focuses specifically on children’s emotional and mental health, an essential need that is often overlooked during disaster response.
Here’s how you can help:

The Youth Empowerment Network is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and eligible donations may be tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Together, we can help youth and families play, heal, and grow—one child, one family, one kit, and one community at a time. Together we help this world shine brighter.
